The Florida Marlins battled back with three runs in the eighth inning but they needed atleast one more to extend the game as they went onto lose to the Cincinnati Reds 8-7.  I’ll give the team credit for coming back, they just needed one more big hit to take the lead, they just didn’t get it done tonight.

Hanley Ramirez, Jeremy Hermida, and Dan Uggla all hit home runs in the game.  All three of the home runs were solo shots however.  Besides those three rbi’s for the Marlins, Luis Gonzalez and Mike Rabelo also had one rbi each in the game.

Taylor Tankersley took the loss which dropped his record to 0-1 on the season.  Tankersley was pitching in relief of starting pitcher Burke Badenhop who threw six innings.  Badenhop left the game after giving up six hits and four runs.  Three of the four runs were earned.

With the loss, the Marlins dropped to to 23-15 on the season.  Marlins Blog

The Florida Marlins finished off the Milwaukee Brewers with a three game sweep by beating them 7-2 on Thursday night.  It was a great series for the Marlins who beat a tough Brewers team.  The Marlins improved their record to 20-14 with the win on Thursday night.

Matt Treanor led the Marlins with a three run home run and three rbi.  Jorge Cantu had two rbi in the game as well.  Behind Treanor and Cantu, Jeremy Hermida and Wes Helms both had one rbi in the game.

Starting pitcher Mark Hendrickson only pitched 4 1/3 innings as he gave up seven hits and one run.  Hendrickson earned the no decision since he didn’t pitch the required five innings to pick up the win.

Relief pitcher Logan Kensing got the win as he pitched 2 2/3 innings after Hendrickson was taken out of the game.  Kensing is now 1-0 on the season.  Matt Lindstrom pitched after Kensing and allowed one run in one inning.  Justin Miller pitched one inning in relief and did not allow a run.

The Florida Marlins got a great performance by Scott Olson who threw a complete game two hitter against the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday night.  The Marlins went onto beat the Brewers 3-0 in the game and improve to 18-14 on the season.

Olson threw all nine inning and struck out eight batters while walking four batters.  Great job my Olson and it saved the Marlins bullpen from having to come into the game and gets them an extra night of rest.

Luis Gonzalez got the Marlins scoring started in the second inning with a RBI single and then Mike Jacobs had a two run home run in the third inning.  That was all the scoring the Marlins needed as Olson was on fire on the mound.

Marlins pitcher Kevin Gregg gave up two runs in the top of the ninth inning as the Marlins lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-3 on Thursday afternoon.  The game was tied 3-3 heading into the inning, but Gregg couldn’t get the job done to give the Marlins hitters a chance to win it in the bottom of the inning.

Burke Badenhop started the game for the Marlins and pitched six innings.  Badenhop gave up five hits and three runs but pitched well enough to keep the Marlins in the game.  It’s too bad there wasn’t more offensive production so Badenhop could have picked up the win.

Cody Ross hit is first home run of the season in the game as he went deep in the fifth inning to score two runs.  Hanley Ramirez also had a RBI double in the third inning.

The Marlins are now 15-13 on the season as they try to stay close to the top of the divisonal standings.

Starting pitcher Andrew Miller got roughed up in only three innings of action.  Nine hits and six runs later Miller was out of the game as it made it a long night for the Marlins bullpen.  Doug Waechter and Renyel Pinto both pitched two scoreless innings before Kevin Gregg gave up the game winning hit to Kent.  Gregg picked up the loss and is now 3-1 on the season.

Jeremy Hermida had two RBI for the Marlins in the game.  Dan Uggla provided a solo home run to finish with one RBI.  Jorge Cantu, Luis Gonzalez, and Mike Rabelo all had one RBI as well.

The Florida Marlins struggled at the plate against the Atlanta Braves on Thursday night as they lost 7-3.  The Marlins were only able to scrap together six hits.  They probably wouldn’t even have scored a run if Josh Willingham didn’t go 3-4 with four RBI.

Besides Willinghams three hits, only three other Marlins players had a hit.  Talk about a terrible performance at the place for the Marlins.

On the mound for the Marlins, Burke Badenhop took the loss after throwing five innings.  Badenhop gave up eight hits and six runs in the game.  Logan Kensing pitched two scoreless innings before Doug Waechter gave up a run in the eighth inning.
